And while we are on the topic of breastfeeding and the media…the season opener of Packed to the Rafters which aired last week was a very real portrayal of the realities of breastfeeding faced by so many women. The episode touched on many aspects from breast pumps to attachment problems as well as breast refusal.The frustration that goes hand in hand with trying to establish breastfeeding was depicted so well by the show’s writers and we applaud them for that. The episode also looked at bonding, especially in relation to Dads. It was refreshing to see such a balanced portrayal...from the exhaustion and frustration of struggling to establish breastfeeding, through the persistence of two tired parents and finally the relief of having it all come together. All up, a very honest and realistic account of the highs and lows of breastfeeding. Well done.
