Breastmilk Cheese & Crackers Anyone?

Wondering what to do with your excess supply of frozen breastmilk? One US chef thought he’d come up with the perfect solution – he put his wife’s oversupply on the menu! Daniel Angerer, a noted New York chef, decided there was no need for this precious liquid gold to go down the drain: he’d make it into a creamy paprika and fig breastmilk cheese. It was a short-lived hit at his trendy bistro until the Department of Health intervened. Funnily enough, there are no laws specifically prohibiting this however the health risks are obvious! If you’re seriously looking for an alternative to throwing out excess breastmilk, consider donating it to a milk bank. These organisations provide pasteurised donor breastmilk to infants in need who are unable to have their own mother’s milk. Learn more, including how to become a donor, at Mother’s Milk Bank (QLD) and PREM (WA). If you know of any other donor milk bands in Australia, please let us know.
